Sausage- pork sausage is typically used in a sausage gravy. I use breakfast sausage patties that are easy to crumble like ground sausage because they have no casing. If you want the gravy to have a little kick, spicy sausage would be great.

Milk- whole milk will helps make this a creamy gravy. Using heavy cream will make a rich gravy. Milk is more common and usually always on hand.

Seasonings- rosemary, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper makes this a flavorful country gravy.

Add all purpose flour to the hot pan of cooked sausage. Stir flour to absorb sausage drippings which will help thicken the gravy. Cook for a minute to cook out the raw flour.

Lower to medium-low heat and stir in the milk scraping up the browned bits. Add in all seasonings and cook until thickened to your preference. If it get's too thick, add more milk to thin out the gravy.
