Making jalapeño simple syrup is so easy and all it requires is 3 ingredients. I am a margarita lover and can not get enough of spicy margaritas. To bring the heat to those drinks I decided to make a jalapeño simple syrup to keep on hand in the fridge for when I wanted to make them for myself or guests. Adding sliced jalapeños to a drink just isn't enough and to add granulated sugar makes a drink grainy which we do not want. This solves both of those problems. After making this you will keep some in your fridge at all times!
Jalapeño Simple Syrup Ingredients
Jalapeños- You can use less or more depending on how spicy you want the syrup to be. Using two gets the jalapeño flavor across.
Sugar- This makes it into a syrup and brings sweetness that balances the heat.
Water- Can't make simple syrup without some H2O
Let's Make Some Spicy Simple Syrup
Begin by slicing the jalapeños into coins. To me, it releases more heat when it's cut this way but you can also cut them in half lengthwise removing the stem.
In a small saucepan or pot add cup of water and cup of sugar over medium-high heat. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
Add jalapeño slices and bring to a boil. Once boiling reduce to low heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
Turn off heat and allow to steep and cool for an hour.
Pour in a glass mason jar with a lid and store in the refrigerator. You can use this simple syrup to make Spicy Jalapeño Margaritas!
Jalapeño Simple Syrup Tips
This simple syrup will last for one month in the refrigerator stored in a tightly sealed glass mason jar.
Yes you can! You can increase the heat level by adding a spicier pepper like a serrano pepper or a habanero pepper.
