    Hailfax in Hoboken, NJ

Published: Dec 15, 2018 · This post may contain affiliate links · Leave a Comment

Hailfax is a restaurant that's connected to the W hotel in Hoboken, NJ. It's near the Hudson river so you get amazing views of New York City if you are lucky to get a table near a window. I've never been there at night but I can imagine that it is beautiful with the city lights. The first time I came here was for my birthday in September for brunch. It's the perfect place to celebrate a birthday or a girl's day. Who doesn't love brunch?!

They have a great brunch deal called "Bubble Brunch" which is unlimited small plates and one bottle of sparkling wine for $32. There is a 2 hour limit so don't go thinking you can grab a seat in eat and drink all day. The sparking wine is champagne and the continuously top your glass, it's never empty. If you want to do brunch and you are in the area, definitely give this place a try. Call and make a reservation if you want a table or else you will have to sit at the bar. My mother and I walked in and we had brunch at the bar which was still cool. The menu changes seasonally I'm guessing because a few of the items they had on the menu the last time was not on it for my birthday.

    The Food

    Hailfax
Here's the menu and 2 juices they give so you can make mimosas with the champagne. The bottle on the left is strawberry and the right is orange.

    Hailfax
The first round of small plates are fruit salad with melons, strawberries, and pineapple; arugula & squash salad w. apples, gorgonzola, and apple cider vinaigrette; yogurt parfait with spiced green apple sauce, almond granola, and berries; and challah french toast with maple whipped cream and almonds.
    Hailfax
Second round came and this is smoked salmon with rye toast, cream cheese, scallion, and capers along with deviled eggs topped with smoked herring, scallions, and a garlic chip.
    Hailfax
Third round is mushroom bisque with crème fraiche and chives. The mini skillets have a poached egg, ham, potatoes, and onions.
    Hailfax
Beet brioche with goat cheese and fresh dill.

The cast iron skillet has potato poutine that has cheddar cheese curds, chives and a sherry gravy. Top right is mushroom mac & cheese with smoked gouda and parmesan. The bottom is fried chicken & polenta with rosemary gravy.

Clockwise: Takeout containers have seafood paella which I will picture below; beef sliders on a brioche bun with bacon-onion marmalade and white cheddar; warm croissant with pancetta, jack cheese, arugula pesto, and pickled peppers; and croque monsieur with ham, swiss cheese sauce, and pickled peppers.

Seafood paella with shrimp, mussels, clams, saffron, and tomato.

    The Experience

As you can see you get A LOT of food. There is no need to order anything because they bring one of everything out for you so that you get to sample everything. It's served family style so you sit and pass the plates around and chat with your company which is cool. After you sample everything they come back and take an order for anything you liked and want them to come back out with. My personal favorites are the french toast, ham & egg, and poutine. That french toast is #1 because its legit magic. You can also get things like oysters, desserts, and a bloody mary for additional charges. That stuff does not come with the bubbles brunch but is still available. If you come have a designated driver because you can get LIT in there from all the champagne. For my birthday I definitely was but when I went with my mom I had to cut myself off because I was driving. Definitely come here for brunch because it's a good experience.
