Breakfast I think is my favorite meal, I could have it at any time of the day. Breakfast for dinner is literally the best thing ever. I actually think it may be better at night than it is during the day. I live alone so making homemade waffles for one person is great for me. Even if you don't live alone and just want to make it for yourself, this recipe is perfect every time. I have a waffle maker so it made me determined to learn how to make waffles from scratch. I own the Bella Waffle Iron that you can order right from Amazon. Another popular waffle make that I'm seeing EVERYWHERE is the Dash Mini Waffle Maker. It's on Instagram and Tik Tok with people making all sorts of things but you can make mini pancakes instead of one big waffle. This recipe is perfect for fluffy belgian waffles and I'm here to share that with you all! This is way better than freezer waffles that can come out crispy and hard. Yes, frozen waffles are convenient and fast but if you have the time please make these easy homemade waffles. They are a game changer and you will taste the difference.
Homemade Waffle Ingredients
If you do not want to use whole milk you certainly do not have to. This would work with all types of milk like almond, soy, coconut, or oat. There are no many types of milk out there and this will work so that everyone can enjoy this recipe.
I use a butter flavored cooking spray because it will add more flavor to the crust of the waffle but by all means, use whichever cooking spray you have on hand. I have even used an olive oil spray before.
If you wanted to make more than one waffle you can double or triple the recipe. To keep the waffles warm while you make the rest, sit them an oven at 200°.
How to make Homemade Waffles
Mix flour, salt, sugar, cinnamon, and baking powder together.
Mix together the egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
Add the wet mix to the bowl that has the dry mix and mix. Don't over mix the batter, just enough to completely combine.
Preheat waffle iron and spray with butter spray.
After 7-8 minutes (time may vary on your waffle maker) flip the waffle maker over and open. Voila! Perfect waffle. Always open the waffle maker slow just incase the waffle isn't ready yet. If you get resistance or see that it's not done close and flip it back to cook a little longer. Take it out with a rubber spatula (so you are not scratching the waffle maker plates with metal) which should release with ease and put on a plate.
Serve warm and enjoy the homemade waffle you made! I topped my waffle with syrup and chopped fresh strawberries.
